Fighting-types tend to be among the more intelligent of types and rank along with the Psychic-type as the most intelligent host of non-human organisms this makes sense in light of the fact that many Fighting-types are specifically bred for battles inside professional boxing or wrestling rings and not just for Pokémon battles, where they can combine their brute strength with close-quarters maneuvers to overcome opponents.

Fighting-types tend to have somewhat poor Special Defense stats and only average movement speed but are more than supported by their enormous physical power and strong fighting spirits. The Fighting-type is all about physical strength and the majority of the moves classified under the type are thus physical in nature. It might not have much more than simple power backing it up, but for those willing to try it out, the Fighting-type is a great offensive tool that few trainers will be able to complete ignore safely in a fight. Even so, the Fighting-type is a universal type in that many moves assigned to the type are learned by otherwise completely disparate organisms, more than making it a type worth studying if using it doesn't fit a trainer's plans.

The type is limited in terms of its capacity to utilize special attacks to any degree and is difficult to use when up against a tactical trainer that can take advantage of the type's lack of tactical prowess, so it is more than a bit flawed in its workings. The fact that the Fighting type is tied with the Ground-type for the most number of type advantages explains this perfectly, especially since most if not all Fighting-types are designed only for pure power and rely on their strength exclusively to win fights. The Fighting-type is among the better-known types and is often used and abused by trainers that prefer to rely on brute force to win their battles.
